Queen Matthilda was the mother of Queen Cerys and the grandmother of Jenna Heap. She was responsible for teaching Jenna "the Commital".[1]

She appeared to be more open-minded than her daughter, as she did not disapprove of her granddaughter having lived with the Heaps, or the fact that they named her 'Jenna'. She was almost representative of a gracious fairy godmother for Jenna, as opposed to Cerys, who appeared to be rather disdainful of Jenna's upbringing, making it clear that she hoped it would be the opposite of what it was.[citation needed]
